This is what we are all about :

The new Fraserburgh Swimming, Sport & Community Complex

This computer graphic shows what the new Fraserburgh Swimming, Sport & Community complex will look like once it opens in early January 2013. A great reason to come along and visit Fraserburgh and the surrounding area.

And here is another:

A flume, similar in design to the one above (this one is 50m ours will be 40m), will also be in the new pool hall along with other fun equipment, what a great way to spend a few hours of your visit to the town.

Our organisation, FISSH, was set up in 2007 and became a Registered Charity (SCO40848) in 2009. We were established to represent the local community in trying to forward the building of this complex.

We were delighted when, after much campaigning, Aberdeenshire Council agreed to finance most of the £9M project and also when they asked that FISSH come on board and become part of the Project Team. Sportscotland also provided £500,000 towards the cost of the building.

As our other contribution to the project we have been actively fundraising to provide a 40metre long internal water flume and fun equipment that Aberdeenshire Council, in light of the present economic climate, cannot provide.

We have over £80,000 in our fund, 2/3rds of the way to realising our £120,000 target. If you take a look at the events section on the visitfraserburgh website you will be able to see the types of fundraising activities we undertake, so if you're in the area come along and enjoy them. We also have a great deal of support from individuals and groups within the community who fundraise on our behalf.

The “1 st Sod” on the construction site was cut on 25 th July 2011, so the construction phase has begun! At that event it was emphasised by Aberdeenshire Council that it was the community spirit of the town that enabled this project to go ahead. Come and see our area and experience that same spirit in our welcome to you.
