START 2008 FEELING PINK AND POSITIVE

A Sea of pink enveloped Fraserburgh at the third annual Moonlight Prowl.

The event attracted nearly 1,300 female walkers this year that walked to raise money for the Breast Care Centre at Aberdeen Royal Infirmary.

Women picked either a 6 mile or 13 mile to walk to raise sponsorship funds.

Organising committee chairperson Margaret Adams told the ‘Herald'.

‘It went very well, very well, everyone had a great night.

“The committee are absolutely delighted by the response of the town. There were so many decorations out on the streets and so many people were out cheering the ladies on.

We had people from Australia and America walking who just thought it was absolutely fantastic. They were all very impressed with it as a town and how very supportive it is. Same time next year “.

The streets as well as the participants were draped in pink as the local community showed it support to Fraserburgh's pink ladies lining parts of the circuit to cheer on the walkers some handing out sweet along with words of encouragement.

The weather was once again kind to the walkers, even after the sun had set, with hardly a breath of wind and rain nothing but a long gone worry.

The final total raised by the group will however not be known until nearer the end of the month, but with an increase of about 400 walkers it could well be set to eclipse last years.

The committee will be in the Dalryple hall on Tuesday, June 24, between 6pm-8pm to collect sponsor money.
